Blog Journal #10
I really liked Assignment 5! I was not familiar with non-linear navigation, so it took me awhile to get comfortable with making that kind of powerpoint. I really liked being able to make the powerpoint interactive for the students. I think next time, I could make the answer choices clickable for the students. I definitely will be using non-linear navigation powerpoints when I become a teacher. I think they are really good for review.
When I am a teacher I think I will use data collection tools to gage certain feelings or thoughts from my class. I think I will be more likely to use surveys with older students, like in middle school or high school. I think surveys can be used in a lot of ways. I can see how my students feel about a past or upcoming test, review certain material or concepts, or ask students other questions regarding the class material.
I really enjoy reading about what my classmates thought about certain assignments like the powerpoint and website design assignments. It is interesting to see if other students liked the same things about an assignment that I did or faced similar struggles that I did. I also like reading about what my classmates think about certain topics within the education world. For example, it was cool to see all the different perspectives my classmates had on the digital divide.
I have not earned a badge yet. I think they are a really good idea and allows for me to chose something I find interesting. I have said before I should do them, and I really do want to do them, they just keep slipping my mind. I definitely think I should do them because of my current grade and I think they would be fun for me to try.
I think a technology-related skill I want to learn would be something related to spreadsheets. I have not used excel or any application similar to it, so I have very little experience with creating spreadsheets. As a teacher, I will have to calculate grades and deal with a lot of numbers and percentages. I think it would be beneficial for me to be proficient in excel so it will be easier for me to calculate grades.
